Exploring Glen Davis

Just a short drive from Coorongooba Campground is Glen Davis, a place steeped in history. Once a bustling oil shale mining town, Glen Davis now stands as a testament to its rich past. Take a leisurely walk among the remnants of old industrial buildings and imagine life during a time when this place was alive with activity. Over 2500 people once lived here during the late 1930s.

The contrast between the aged stone structures and vibrant greenery makes for excellent photographs. Take a moment to enjoy the tranquil setting, allowing your mind to wander back to an era long gone. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that Glen Davis was home to over 2500 workers at its peak in the 1940s, creating a bustling community among the cliffs.

Camping at Coorongooba

Coorongooba Campground is ideal for both experienced campers and those trying it for the first time. The campground offers spacious sites and toilet amenities. Set up your tent, caravan or campervan, and enjoy the splendid views right from your campsite.

In the evenings, gather around the fire pit with friends, watching the sky come alive with stars. Did you know the Capertee Valley is recognized as one of the best places in Australia for stargazing due to its minimal light pollution?
